Want some stories about gay cowboys yearning as they ride horseback through the wilderness? Theo Sunshine’s work delivers just that. If he’s not busy drawing cowboys in love, he’s probably outside snapping pictures of pigeons in the streets of Portland so he can go back to his apartment and draw them in his sketchbook.

Theo works in both digital and analog, sometimes combining the two throughout his process. Starting his art journey with a drawing focus, Theo values using tactile mediums like charcoal and pastels. Figure drawing and studies from life have brought him a lot of joy and opportunity for experimentation and skill-building.

During his time studying at Pacific Northwest College of Art, he has demonstrated an ability to meet deadlines and be an open communicator. He loves character-driven stories with themes of love and self-discovery. He is working toward entering the publishing industry with a debut graphic novel he’s writing and illustrating. In the near future, he hopes to work collaboratively with other artists and writers to tell stories through the comic medium.
